Spirits by Pucci
Pucci here with a brand-new blog post!
Every week (or whenever the spirits move me!), I’ll be sharing some thrilling locations I’ve visited. And who knows, these places might have spirits in more ways than one—both the liquid kind and the ones lingering from the past. So, grab a drink (or light some incense), and let's dive in!
Today, I’m excited to tell you about a quirky bed-and-breakfast—wait, scratch that, they call it a Bed and Brew! Because who needs breakfast when you’ve got amazing craft beer, right? That's literally their tagline: “Breakfast is overrated!” So, let’s talk about The Painted Lady, located in the historic Old Town area of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Oh, and trust me, this place has a past as colorful as its name.
Originally built in 1881, this charming spot started out as a brothel and saloon. Rumor has it that even Billy the Kid himself used to drop by for a drink or. . . Can you imagine the ghostly conversations that could be had here? Sadly, I haven’t made any specific contact with the other kind of spirits yet—probably because I haven’t stayed in one of the haunted rooms. So far, my visits have been strictly brewery-side, but let me tell you, the beer alone is worth a stop!
One of my top recommendations is from the Canteen Brewhouse—their Citranova Tangerine Oatmeal Lager. It's like drinking a fizzy Creamsicle! Seriously, one of the bartenders, Kate (who’s a total sweetheart, by the way), made sure I tried it, and I was hooked. Then, there’s the Painted Lady’s collaboration brew with Steelbender Brewyard—the Golden Goat SMASH Pale Ale. A tad hoppier than my usual vibe, but those citrus notes really mellow it out for a refreshingly balanced sip.
If you find yourself in The Duke City, definitely check out this cool spot! They’ve got an old trolley on-site where you can chill, sip your beer, and take in the vintage photos of the neighborhood. I haven’t stayed overnight yet, but trust me, one of these days, I’m booking a room and calling out to whoever’s still hanging around.
